Jackson, WY – Terra Public Relations is proud to announce the recent additions of Caitlin Welter and Maddie McQueeney to its expert team of professionals. A boutique communications agency Terra provides full-service public relations, branding support and social media consulting in the outdoor, active lifestyle, fitness and LOHAS markets.

Terra welcomes Welter and McQueeney as Senior Enthusiast and Enthusiast, respectively. Both will support Terra’s expanding client list including Polarmax, Ortovox, National Ski Patrol, Dahlgren Footwear, SKORA Running, Aloe Gator Suncare, Marquette Backcountry, Kate’s Real Food and Vertical Harvest of Jackson Hole.

Welter brings direct agency experience and deep roots in the outdoor, snow sports and lifestyle industry to Terra PR. An outdoor enthusiast and active lifestyle junkie, Welter grew up on the playground know as Vermont. She spent three years with Vermont based, outdoor industry agency Pale Morning Media, before making the move to Jackson, Wyoming.

Maddie McQueeney brings a distinct perspective to the Terra team. With a combined degree in Psychology and Economics from Bowdoin College, and a passion for all things outdoors, McQueeney has keen understanding of what makes industry minds tick. A religious pavement pounder, McQueeney completed her first marathon this past summer.

Is my haircut environmentally insensitive?

A couple months back, my daughter and I cut our hair for Locks of Love, a very worthy reason to grow, and then cut one’s hair. I loved the cut, the light feeling, the healthy look. And, I could put away all those hairbands. No more ponytails or braids! I’d need less shampoo and conditioner in the shower, I thought. It’s a win-win!

lately, though, I’ve been wondering about the impact of this new do.

Apparently, when there was more hair, there was more room to spread the grease around. Or, I could manipulate my coif to hide said grease, generally by pulling it back in a “sleek” ponytail, or better yet, dueling braids which served as youthful distraction, and also hid more of the greasy hair inside the braids.

So, with nowhere to hide my grease, I find myself taking MORE showers. I’ve upped my schedule from every other day (I’ve got other stuff to do in the AM, like sleep) to every day. By default, I’m using at least as much shampoo and conditioner now as I was with long hair, but I’m also using more water and body wash. OH NO!

Even if I were one of those people who was inclined to never wash my hair when I bathed my body (I do, actually, know a few of these brave souls, and their hair is marvelously healthy), I would still be using more water than before. And despite my efforts to only buy products whose majority of ingredients are natural, and certainly cruelty-free, I still feel guilty every time I step into the shower.

So, is the solution to have hair that reaches the floor, that I might not have to wash for weeks at a time (until I found a small varmit or bird nest)?

Or, is it to adopt the Trucker Hat style, belying my age and status as employed?

Or is it to go Sinead O’Connor (but that requires maintenance!)?

I don’t have the answer, but I do wish my hair would cooperate with my pro-environment agenda.
